Anyone a member? What do you pay?

Looking at getting membership in Southend for the Mrs birthday but they won’t tell me the prices until I’ve walked round

Southend branch Bruuno, or a different one? Do you know what the couples rate would have been?

Re: David Lloyd
Depends if you want racket sports (tennis and squash) included or just gym and pool.

I've been a member at Southend in the past. Cracking facility if you will use it enough.

Hatfield £89 a month.
Expensive but it’s their head office so has a lot of new stuff.

Re: David Lloyd
Me and the missus gave up membership about eleven years ago and were paying about £110 joint membership at the time, for the basic membership. We had to give three months notice as well when we cancelled. My wife now belongs to Puregym which as the name suggests is just a gym. With David Lloyd you could end up paying for stuff you’lll never or hardly ever use.

Re: David Lloyd
I absolutely love the place. I've just got back from sitting outside by the pool with the family.

I've been a member for 8 years (Gidea Park). My mate was a Personal Trainer at the time and put me on her friends and family discount. So I was paying £50 per month for rackets and everything else. I wanted the Vantage/celcius membership so that was an extra £20 = £70. Over the last 8 years it had increased to £81, which was still an amazing deal.

Recently, I've switched to the Basildon gym because I use Gidea Park, Basildon, Chigwell and Southend several times a month. Basildon offered me £131 for me, the Mrs, my kids 7 and 1. Still a good deal.

I love David Lloyd. I'd still go there even if they doubled the cost of my membership!

Re: David Lloyd
Aside from gym, pool, courts etc, what do you get for the membership?

Like what makes it special?

Is it just a status thing?

Genuinely curious as there's one near me, not taking the piss.

I was a member for years before emigrating, used to use it at least twice a week often more.

Just a nice place to spend time.

I pay council tax and go running through the park and local country footpaths.

I don't have to put up with strangers pubes in the shower at home.

Bargain.
